Carnavales

Villafranca’s Carnival is celebrated with great enthusiasm over two weekends in February. A highlight of the festivities is the Grand Local Contest of Carnival Groups, which attracts numerous participants and spectators. There’s also a Children’s Carnival Party full of fun for the little ones, while chirigotas and comparsas (satirical musical groups) bring joy to the streets, squares, and neighborhoods of the town.

The traditional “Domingo de Piñata” (Piñata Sunday) marks the grand finale. After the contest, the groups are invited by local bars and restaurants to perform short shows and mini festivals, adding a musical touch to the festive atmosphere.
