Festivities in Honor of Our Lady of Los Remedios
According to tradition, a group of shepherds was tending their flock when they discovered the statue of the Virgin at the current site of the hermitage. The people of Villafranca, wishing to have her closer to town, began building a temple in a more convenient location. However, the works mysteriously collapsed, and—unexplainably—the construction materials reappeared at the original discovery site.
To the amazement of locals, this phenomenon happened several times, leading them to interpret it as a sign that Our Lady wished to remain in that very spot—a crossroads from which the town can be seen.
This legend, with no historical foundation, is the one passed down from generation to generation, probably as a way to explain the origins of this devotion in Villafranca.
