Crosses, Courtyards and Balconies
Villafranca bursts in color and the scent of flowers to welcome spring
With the arrival of the month of flowers, Villafranca de Córdoba gets dressed up, recovering one of the most beautiful traditions of the Cordoban May. Around May 1st, the white of the lime on the facades yields to a burst of color. Neighbors participate with care by decorating balconies, grilles, and courtyards, turning the town’s streets into a living open-air museum.
A Route of Color and Coexistence
The celebration consists of the installation of large crosses, made with carnations and other floral varieties, which are located in emblematic squares and corners. The result is an unparalleled festive atmosphere that invites you to take a walk.
For the visitor, it is the ideal time to tour Villafranca without rushing. The aroma of orange blossom and geraniums guides a route where local hospitality shines as much as the flowers. It is not just an aesthetic contest; it is a display of local pride where doors are opened to share the beauty of everyday life with anyone who wants to enjoy it.
