What to see and do in Villafranca de Córdoba

Casa Palacio de los Duques de Medinaceli

This Baroque palace, mainly known as the Ducal Stewardship, was once the residence of the steward of the Duke of Medinaceli in the town of La Puente de Don Gonzalo.

In recent decades, it has been identified with the Vergara family, its current owners. Built in the last third of the 18th century, construction work was still ongoing in the 19th century. The house stands out for its wide stone doorway and its façade, which features a central balcony flanked by two enclosed viewpoints. The stonework came from the Sierra Gorda quarries, possibly crafted by the Gallardo Brothers, who also worked on the Sanctuary of La Concepción.

The palace preserves a columned courtyard, staircases, and period-furnished rooms, as well as a garden and a carriage area with independent access via Calle de Godínez.
